Happy Halloween!

Muah ha ha ha ha, I'm the Candy King!
Now this one, this is special.
Wait, I better check out this one too.
Yes, Twix is an excellent choice.
Hey, why did you take all that candy away? I wasn't really gonna eat it.
I'm coming for it.
 Yeah, got it!

Mommy says we are ready for chocolate loving trick-or-treaters tonight!

Look at me standing! (with a little assistance)

Recent Happenings

1. We spent Saturday afternoon just south of Nashville at Arrington Vineyards, owned by Kix Brooks.  It was a beautiful spot up on a hillside.  We were able to do a tasting at the winery and just enjoy the beautiful day.  It was wild to be outside when snow was clobbering the Northeast.  My camera died so I only got a few pictures, but we were there with Tom and Shelley for her Mom's 60th birthday.  My Mom kindly watched Charlie, but there were lots of kids there. I hope to go back again sometime.

2.  Last week we did a little shopping with my Mom.  Here we are in Nordstrom's dressing room.  It was kind of exciting to go there since it's new to Nashville.
3.  Charlie is very accomplished when it comes to removing his socks.  He'll do it in his car seat since he can easily grab his feet, but he can even manage to get them off when he can't reach his feet, like here:  He steps on the sock with the opposite foot and can shimmy it off.  Smart boy!
I had a wonderful weekend... and hope you did too!

Video

This video was shortly after our childproofing mishap, so you can see he made a quick recovery.

Childproofing

Well, we had our first childproofing mishap a couple days ago.  We'd done the normal stuff like put in outlet plugs, remove breakables from his reach, and we even have a soft ottoman instead of a normal coffee table...but we overlooked the Bose speakers at the TV console (just a few inches above floor).  I walked out of the room for about 10 seconds and the poor little fellow pulled it down on his face.  I felt terrrrrrrible.

This was indeed a time to pull out some new toys:

We called him "Rocky" and "Balboa" for the day.  I was so afraid his eye would look worse the next day, but thankfully he's looking fine!  The magical powers of baby skin.

Charlie - 8 months old

Yesterday was Charlie's big 2/3 of a year day!  My 22 pounder is starting to pull himself up a bit.  He goes after paper, remotes, cell phones, shoe strings, and any drawstrings or cords...and he doesn't forget about it if you hide them!

Recent Happenings

1. Our wise kitty keeps curling up next to the heater.
 2.  We had carpet installed downstairs on Friday.  Let the playing begin, Charlie!

3.  Pat used his Big Green Egg to smoke 6 massive pork butts for Vandy's Saturday tailgate.

4.  Charlie's enjoying the fall weather.  I have so many cute pictures of him (as you know)... I really need to get back into scrapbooking.

Overalls

I think pretty much any baby clothes are cute, but I am partial to overalls.  And these are Liam hand me downs, so even better.

Bags: Winnie and Charlie

Charlie finds and plays with Winnie's toys way more than she does. He also found a shopping bag yesterday which he thought was very entertaining. It reminded me of how Winnie loves paper bags too. Going back a few years (that is right, Winnie is almost 5)...

Charlie in Knit Hats

Charlie lucked out by receiving some lovely hand knit goods as gifts: a couple great blankets (thanks Andrea and cousin Frannie) and a few hats.  Now that the weather is getting cooler, let's check out the cutie sporting his hats.

Recent Happenings

1.  I finally bought some mums for our front porch.  It's fall y'all!
 2.  I found poor Mr. Duck in this state:
Someone did not escape the crime scene quick enough, so I think I know who to blame.
3.  Charlie continues his culinary adventure.  His latest conquest - Mango.
4.  Cooler weather... that means hoodies!
5.  Saturday night was a big night out.  Mom and Dad babysit while E and Mark, and Pat and I went out to dinner and a show.  We ate at Bricktops (including friend oysters, mmm) and then headed downtown to 3rd and Lindsley to see Jeffrey Steele.  Such a great show.  Even if you have never heard of him, you've definitely heard a bunch of his songs.  He's written lots of hits for Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry.  He was still playing well after midnight when we had to call it a night.

I am definitely taking advantage of my close proximity to E.  Yay for sister time.  :)
