Nothin' But Blue Skies

"Blue skies smiling at me, nothing but blue skies do I see."

Mom and Dad got me this puzzle for Christmas.  My goal is to finish it this weekend! (that would make Pat happy... clean table)

Puzzle

I did it! I have successfully completed my goal of finishing this puzzle before Thanksgiving. :-P
The quantity of blue is what held me up - the back of the puzzle was blue too!
Just about the only easy part was this little fence and the cruise ship.
Let's see...I realize I've been bad about posting over the last week.  What else can I tell you?
I'm 25 weeks along and we had another Dr. appointment this week, including a glucose screening test (for gestational diabetes - I think I would have been notified by now if I needed additional tests, phew!)

This book was recommended to me by a coworker.  It has been so handy during the registry process.  (tips from family and friends have been very helpful too)  We've pretty much picked out all the big stuff now and most of the little stuff.  Saturday we selected our stroller, infant car seat carrier, and regular car seat.  Crazy how much stuff our little guy will need.  With just a few months away I am getting so excited!!

Next week is going to be a great week, so have a happy Thanksgiving in case I don't post until after then.

Monday Night

Pat's at the Jets home opener at the New Meadowlands stadium.  I've had a lovely evening at home... I ate a yummy spinach salad with toasted almonds, dried cranberries, and some Swiss cheese while watching last night's Mad Men.  I also did a Craigslist posting for a trundle bed that is sitting in the office which will become a guest bedroom (yep, rearranging rooms a bit - time to start planning for nursery).  And one more thing!
Because the backing is blue, kind of looks like a sea of blue, right?  You might recall how I found an unopened $5 puzzle while walking around a Manhattan flea market the other weekend.  Here she is!

Next item of the night - order our new book pick for book club.  It's Suite Francaise.

PS Happy birthday, dear old Dad.  Love you so!

Puzzle Challenge

I seem to be starting new puzzles as I finish them.  So once I finally completed the trees in the above puzzle, I started a beautiful 2000 piece puzzle that my my mother in law had, unopened in the closet.  (yes I asked, she said by all means!)
It's another Springbok - high quality puzzle with thick pieces.  A few more I like are here, here and here.  I did this one a few weeks back and loved it.
Very colorful!

Vintage Puzzle

This puzzle is only 500 pieces, so it was a quick one!
I finished it in one day actually.

And in the same day I started another one that Maura brought me.
Why am I so obsessed with puzzles right now???
Puzzle Power!!

Warren and Alyssa's Place

We stopped over on Saturday to check out Warren and Alyssa's future home.  It was Alyssa's grandparents house and the engaged couple is in the process of purchasing it for their first home together.  It's a bit outdated and they've already put in a ton of work emptying it out and pulling off wallpaper and old carpet.    It's a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath house and it's going to be perfect for them.  Warren's father is a builder and Alyssa is an interior designer, so they sure have what it takes to make it fabulous.
Pat helped take out some trash.
(wearing a found hat which came home with us)
Alyssa and her Mom:
They even had a puzzle set aside for me.
Still had wrapping on it!!  How thoughtful!
--------------
We had a great brunch with Maura yesterday.
Pat was pancake man and I did the sausage and bacon.  Yum!
PS I promise we eat healthy sometimes. :)

Another Puzzle

You can tell Pat has been studying a lot based on all my recently completed puzzles.  This is one I found in the hall closet - not sure if it's my mother in law's or if it's Aunt Mae's.  Good one:
I might take a short break from puzzles...but who knows!

PS I finished reading Half Broke Horses on my commute home last night.  Loved it.
Almost makes me want to reread The Glass CastleI highly recommend both books.

Just started The Last Days of Dogtown this morning.  So far so good.

Puzzle Complete

Hello there.  The line for my license renewal was just as long this weekend, but I stuck it out this time.  Then we hit up a diner for breakfast, mmm french toast, sausage and coffee.  After that we stopped in TJMaxx and I have to say shopping there at 10AM is very nice, hardly anyone there!  I got some new little measuring spoons and a kitchen mat and a new pillow.  Maybe I'll post some pictures of that later - but for now pictures of the puzzle I finished last night.
This one flew by compared to the last one.
Tata for now!  Have a GREAT day!

Puzzle Complete

It's so nice to be off work today.  We're about to have some coffee and fresh bagels.  But a quick post first.  :o)

The snow day I had on Wednesday was the perfect day to complete my puzzle.  In total I guess it took about 2 and a half weeks.  Some people wanted to see the finished product so here you go!
If only I could get one of these for every puzzle I do...
Next up.  A very pretty puzzle that was a Christmas present from my sister.
I'm thinking it will be a piece of cake in comparison.  Puzzles are just so fun for me.
