Good vs. Bad

I am working Christmas Eve...but I get all of next week off.

I have a sore throat...but I can rest up next week.

My bus didn't show up on time this morning...but I don't have to take the bus next week.

JUST A LITTLE EXCITED that my office is closed next week!!! :-D

Last night the McNulty/Juliano clan went to dinner in Brooklyn at this great place called Chestnut.  It's just a few blocks from Maura & Mike's apartment.  I had grilled calamari, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with grits, and banana bread pudding.  Very yummy.

Book Buy

I treated myself to a couple new books after work today.  My Aunt Carole recently told me about the book A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.  I found it on the $1 book shelf tonight at Boof Off in Manhattan. (I told you about that place several months back here.)  I also got The Reader by Bernhard Schlink which they normally price at $5, but they are having a sale through the end of the year - 30% off!  So for less than $5, I got two books that I want to read.  Nice!

Holiday Thanks

It's that time of year that we show thanks for those we appreciate and love. 
When I got my start in New York, I worked for about 6 months as a receptionist at The Ad Store.  Check out this site they recently made called I'm Thankful For - pretty cool.

Engagements Galore

Over the weekend Chris proposed to his girlfriend Julie.  YAY!


And just last night Dave proposed to Dia.  This is all so exciting!!  I remember when Dia moved in to the apartment above Dave and he first brought her to our Hoboken housewarming party.  They are going to make some beautiful red-headed babies! (sorry guess I'm getting ahead of myself)  Here is Queen Dia - better treat her right Dave!

I thought 2008 was my year of weddings, but now it's looking like 2010 might be it - already weddings in Iowa, Indiana, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Tennessee.  Who knows where else.  I love weddings, so it's ok by me. :)

Snow!

This post is a bit late and you all already know about the snow that hit the northeast. (and further south too - my parents were stuck in North Carolina)  It came in Saturday afternoon when Pat and I were making some awesome chili.  It was our first time making it - we went with three bean beef chili.  That will definitely be made again since it turned out great.  Anyhow, I guess we ended up with around 6 inches of snow.  I was lucky because I didn't have to leave the house on Sunday, so the below photos are taken from the cozy indoors.

Holiday Bash

On Saturday night we were invited to Tom and Michela's Annual Holiday-Get-Together in River Edge. (Tom is Dave's older brother)  I'm so glad I got to go this year!  Lucky for us, Warren and Alyssa picked us up in his 4 Wheel Drive Jeep.  I doubt our little Corolla would have done too great in the snow.  Michela and her family are all great cooks.  She whipped up a couple amazing pizzas in no time and there were these amazing fried rice balls.  Basically, lots and lots of yummy food and drink.

Weekend Ahead

The weekend is finally here!  What are your plans?  Here's what I've got going on:

-Hang out with In Laws - they arrive today, oh boy!
-Put ornaments on tree
-I promise to get some exercise.  I've been pretty bad about that lately...
-Mail presents
-2 Holiday parties (neighbors and Viscardi fam)
-Finish my puzzle
-Maybe a movie?
