MOVING!

In case you didn't know, our big news is that we are moving to Nashville this summer!  Pat is going to be starting at Vanderbilt in August to get his MBA. So when we were down in Nashville last month, our big mission was to find a place to live.  Our first choice was to buy a house, second choice find a place to rent, third choice was move in with my parents.  :o)  Our realtor spent several days showing us lots of places.  I guess we went and saw something like 15-20 houses and Pat and I had been searching the MLS for many months in advance.

I really liked this brick house a lot but it was on a tiny lot.

Pat and I ended up really liking this fixer-upper on a 1 acre lot.  We went back and saw it again with my parents and sister and later decided we'd make an offer.  After a little back and forth negotiating, I think we got it for a fair price.  So we had the home inspected and he confirmed our suspicions about work to be done.  Clean up basement, paint, get a refrigerator and washer/dryer, service air conditioner, seal the foundation, and do some electrical and plumbing fixes.  We need to decide what we want to do in the kitchen and baths as well.  (It's technically two bathrooms, but the second bath is in the basement, so kind of hard to count that one).  Enough already, I'll get to the pictures!!

As you can see, it's an older home - built in the late 1950s.
 It's got a walk-out basement and a big backyard,
With lots of windows looking out into the yard.
Three bedrooms
Nice hardwood floors throughout the house.
There is a little side porch off to the left, with a door to the dining room.
We have lots of plans for this house!  We see lots of potential in it and love the neighborhood.  It's a short drive to my parents (10 minutes) and to Vandy (15 minutes).  Closing is set for June 15th, so we should be first time homeowners very soon.  We hope we're still this excited about it once we move in and get to work. Wish us luck. :)
