Sunday Creative

This week's Sunday Creative word prompt is:
Obsolete
1.no longer in general use, fallen into disuse. 2. effaced by wearing down or away. 3. to make obsolete by replacing with something newer or better; antiquate.

Halloween Weekend

We are expecting trick or treaters this weekend.  Since we were in California last Halloween, this is really our first chance to pass out candy.  I'd gotten some from the grocery the other week, but we started to worry that we'd run out, so we headed to CVS this morning to get extra.  I went with a chocolate theme. :)
Reeses, Twix, Hershey's, 100 Grand, Milk Duds, Snickers, and Kit Kat.  Part of me hopes we get rid of it all and part of me hopes we have leftovers!

The weekend is going great so far - we had a wonderful dinner with Maura and Mike last night at August.  I had a delicious salmon special and we all had clean plates.  Today we bought a couple paint samples for a spare bedroom.  The old wallpaper border is coming down this weekend!

Enjoy the day!

Sunday Creative

The word for this week's Sunday Creative is dynamic.
Dynamic: adj: of or relating to physical force producing motion: energetic, forceful

Sweet

A nice picture of me and Miss Lauris from her birthday party last night at Panchito's.  Hope you had a fun rest of the night!
We're off to the grocery and then for a walk right now... have a great day!

Awesome Views

My office is moving to a different downtown location at the beginning of the year to a much larger space in a bigger and taller building.  Before the space gets finished out, we had a little cocktail party there this week to admire the views and to kind of show it off a bit I guess.  Check it out:
The bottom bridge is the Brooklyn Bridge.  I learned a handy trick to remember all the East River bridges: BMW. B for Brooklyn, then going north, M for Manhattan Bridge, and W for Williamsburg Bridge.  Nice!
 The Harbor and Lady Liberty
There goes the Staten Island Ferry.
I wonder if it will be hard to get work done here...it was definitely entertaining to just look out the windows...

Bump Update

4 months vs. 5 months

Colgate

Pat and I had some time on Sunday before Dave and Dia's 5PM ceremony, so we headed to check out Colgate University, Maura's Alma Mater.  Hamilton is located about 30 minutes from the casino, so it was definitely worth the trip.

I learned that the campus is built mostly into a hill.

 Maura's sorority house:
Maura's old dormitory, West Hall:
We grabbed a yummy late lunch at the Colgate Inn's Tavern and said goodbye to the Red Raiders.
There were about a dozen of these massive windmills on our drive there and I thought they were pretty cool, so I had to take some pictures on our return trip.
It's definitely a pretty part of our country - glad I got to see it!

Dave & Dia's Wedding Weekend

On Saturday we hit the road for upstate NY.  The drive was beautiful!  About four hours later we pulled into Turning Stone, a casino and resort about 30 miles from Syracuse.  That evening there was a cocktail party in honor of Dave and Dia.
Jeff, Warren, Rob, Pat
Pat had a lucky night of gambling while I got my rest.
Their outdoor ceremony was a little chilly and windy but not too bad (it's either hot or cold with outdoor weddings, right?).
 Here comes the bride!
 Dia and her Dad:
A lovely ceremony with their own vows.
 MR. and MRS.

Cocktail Hour.  Ryan, Denis, Kevin, Pat, Evan, Shaun:

What a beautiful couple.  So happy for them!
They had an awesome band so we all danced and danced (yes, even me!) so we had a blast.  One last funny picture before I headed to bed.  Jay and Rob:
It was fun having Monday off work...back to work tomorrow. xo

Day Hike in Ramapo

I told Pat I wanted to go hiking, but didn't want to drive too far to get to the trail. He found us a spot just north in Ramapo, maybe 10 miles away. This weekend we are busy with a wedding and I was afraid I might miss the leaves changing if we waited 2 weeks for a hike.
We started out hiking a short mile loop around Lake Henry.
From the lake I spotted this rock in the trees and wanted to find a trail there!  After our warm up hike at Lake Henry we kept driving and found the parking lot and trail heads just down the road.
We took the "Green" Trail because it crossed Hawk Rock, the lookout I wanted to pass.  My only complaint is there was no mileage marking even at the trail head, so we had no idea of distance.
It was a beautiful area and I'd definitely like to go back!  Sunday's weather was just right for a hike.
